29 Renaissance, 6 Islamic, 11 Ukiyo-e, -37 Cubist, -37 Abstract and 9 Impressionist!

The Renaissance was a cultural movement that profoundly affected European intellectual life. Beginning in Italy, and spreading to the rest of Europe by the 16th century, its influence affected literature, philosopy, religion, art, politics, science, and all other aspects of intellectual enquiry. Renaissance artists looked at the human aspect of life in their art. They did not reject religion but tended to look at it in it’s purest form to create visions they thought depicted the ideals of religion. Painters of this time had their own style and created works based on morality, religion, and human nature. Many of the paintings depicted what they believed to be the corrupt nature of man.

People that like Renaissance paintings like things that are more challenging. They tend to have a high emotional stability. They also tend to be more concientious then average. They have a basic understanding of human nature and therefore are not easily surprised by anything that people may do. They enjoy life and enjoy living. They are very aware of their own mortality but do not dwell on the end but what they are doing in the present. They enjoy learning, but may tend to be a bit more closed minded to new ideas as they feel that the viewpoint they have has been well researched and considered. These people are more old fashioned and not quite as progressive. They enjoy the finer things in life like comfort, a good meal, and homelife. They tend to be more spiritual or religious by nature. They are open to new aesthetic experiences.

    Balanced, Secure, and Realistic.

    19 Impressionist, -1 Islamic, -1 Ukiyo-e, -11 Cubist, -4 Abstract and -13 Renaissance!

    Balanced, Secure, and Realistic.

    Impressionism is a movement in French painting, sometimes called optical realism because of its almost scientific interest in the actual visual experience and effect of light and movement on appearance of objects. Impressionist paintings are balanced, use colored shadows, use pure color, broken brushstrokes, thick paint, and scenes from everyday life or nature.

    People that like Impressionist paintings may not always be what is deemed socially acceptable. They tend to move on their own path without always worrying that it may be offensive to others. They value friendships but because they also value honesty tend to have a few really good friends. They do not, however, like people that are rude and do not appreciate the ideas of others. They are secure enough in themselves that they can listen to the ideas of other people without it affecting their own final decisions. The world for them is not black and white but more in shades of grey and muted colors. They like things to be aesthetically pleasing, not stark and sharp. There are many ways to view things, and the impressionist personality views the world from many different aspects. They enjoy life and try to keep a realistic viewpoint of things, but are not very open to new experiences. If they are content in their lives they will be more than likely pleased to keep things just the way they are.

    Yep, that’s our Beth all right! :hug: πŸ™‚

  2. I got Ukiyo-e: Simple, Progressive, Sensual. I’ll probably put the whole thing up on my blog, but if you don’t want to wait, here’s the link:

    In the Cubist category, I got -21. I really hate cubism.

    Me too. Cubism blows. “Sensual”, huh? Wanna watch some hentai anime? Hm?

  3. I tend to like European art from the middle ages through to the black death. The tile mosiacs from early Christianity and the Byzantine empire. The danse macabre stuff from Brughel (sp?). Woven tapestries like the Bayeaux Tapestry. That stuff I really like. Now, I’m off to take that test. Which will take some time as I’m doing this on a dial-up connection.

    Okay, here are the results:
    Impressionist = -12
    Islamic = 11
    Ukiyo-e = 5
    Cubist = -15
    Abstract = -26
    Renaissance = 23

    Here are my results of this quiz. Where was the classical art? Where was the middle ages stuff? How about Native American art? And hello??? Group of Seven??? (Sorry, had to add that last one, obligation to Canadian content.)

    Not bad, not bad. You’re a Renaissance man. Very interesting.

Hey, what's up? Tell me whatcha think!
