Closer every day…

… to being finished with the SSRLP for good. Today my beloved and I finished going over the proofs for our soon-to-be-published technical book. The project is set to be on the shelves in the UK on June 18 this year, so we have tight deadlines. We got a helping hand from DHL ignoring or not being bound by the flight groundings in northern Europe last week and being able to deliver the goods anyway, and the proofreader asking for more time to complete the project. All to the good. Now we’re ready for what the Big Fig Newton always called “the tricky part”.

I now have to scan those corrections into JPEG files, load them into Microsoft Word, and email them off to the project manager in the UK. I have to make sure the hand-written notes on the full-color proofs are legible, and all in my handwriting. Then I have to make sure they’re being sent in bite sizes less than 20MB each. Lots of work left to do.

Once I get them all to her, though, I can sit back and field questions and correct things which still need correcting. I won’t get any more documents from the publisher. And thus will end the journey of this book from an introduction to my agent by the astounding and brilliant JES from Running After My Hat, to what I hope will be at least a few complimentary copies of the book for my adoring throngs of fans. Ahem.

Anyway, nothing else to say because that’s all I did over the weekend. Sorry about no post on Friday, but hey, I had stuff to do.

How was your weekend? What’d you do?

  1. Good to hear that you got a lot of work down. I was all over the place this weekend. Going to take me at least two blog posts to recap some of the events.

Thanks! And I, for one, am looking forward to reading those posts of yours. 🙂

  2. Hey, this is different! I like it. Glad you had a good weekend.

I like it too! I mean, you know … I loved the old one, but this one’s like a magazine or something.

  3. I like the new look! It is very streamlined and easy to read.

Thanks, me too! I’m looking forward to getting used to it!

I’m excited about the SSRLP being a done deal.

Me too. Oh, if you only knew.

Glad you had a busy & productive weekend. Boy Cook Zach gave me an excuse to be lazy all weekend. He wants a hand knitted blanket so of course I need to sit in front of the TV and finish it. Ha!

    Well, of COURSE! 😉

  4. I don’t know how you’re able to contain yourself, or sleep!… it must be like waiting for Christmas!

Hehe, not quite. But it has been fun, that’s for sure. 🙂

The weekend went well, worked and trained the new guy some more, I think he’ll fit in well – thank goodness! We need someone ASAP! Became ridiculously addicted to a game called Peggle… I can hardly put it down!

Peggle, eh? Never heard of that. Off to Bing it I go. 🙂

    • I don’t know what Bing means, but it’s on the Pop Cap website http://www.popcap.com/ you can play the demo for free to see if you like it… we downloaded it to our Playstation… highly addictive! I’m attempting the demo on my computer now, and the controls are funny with a mouse, but I think that’s because I’m used to controlling the pinball with the analogs on my controllers.

      Essentially, it’s crack induced pinball.

HAHAHAHA! Love that description. “Bing” is a search engine; I’ve given up on Google for various reasons and Bing is coming on very, very strong and is every bit as effective.

    • Oh! And Bookworm is another super fun one on that site… the demo seems to last FOREVER… I’ve made it to level 35, and the only reason it ended was because I lost in that round. It seems really silly at first, kind of childish, but once you start playing, and get hooked, it’s hard to put down.

I like Bookworm. It’s on Yahoo! as well. 🙂

  5. For a minute I thought I’d been gone longer than I thought. Nice change though.

    Thanks. I like it.

I’m glad this SSRLP has worked out. It may not be that novel, but it is nothing to sneeze at.

I think I’m starting to get there. I don’t LOVE it yet, but maybe I will when I’m all done with the piddly stuff.

My weekend was the crazy art festival. I still haven’t recovered.

Congratulations on that, I hope it was a HUGE success for you.

Hey, what's up? Tell me whatcha think!
